Kyrgyz Trek

This 9-day adventure is a mix of trekking, mountain lakes, nomadic culture, and road trips through some of the most beautiful places in Kyrgyzstan.

You will visit Lake Son Kul, Kol-Ukok Lake, and the famous Ala Kul Lake , trek through green valleys and high mountain passes, meet nomadic families, and relax in natural hot springs. Along the way, you’ll discover canyons, ancient traditions, and stay in cozy yurts and tents under the stars. The tour begins in Bishkek and takes you to remote valleys, lakes, and charming mountain towns like Kochkor and Karakol.

program by day (tr25d11en) :

Day 1 / Transfer to Lake Son Kul.

Lunch in Kochkor. By the end of the day, we reach the yurt camp on the southern shore of Lake Son Kul. Dinner and overnight in a yurt at 3016m. (350 km)

 

Day 2 / Trekking at Lake Son Kul.

In the morning, a short transfer takes us to the starting point of our hike. We trek along the western shore of Lake Son Kul, visiting yurts along the way. Picnic en route, possibly in a nomad yurt camp. By the end of the day, we arrive at the yurt camp on the northern shore of the lake. Dinner and overnight in a yurt.

 

Day 3 / Trekking Around the Yurt Camp.

In the morning, we select a scenic peak near the camp and set off to conquer it. Return to the camp for lunch. Later, we head to Kochkor via the Kalmak Ashuu Pass (3 hours by car). Dinner with a friendly Dungan family. Overnight in a guesthouse.

 

Day 4 / Trekking to Kol Ukok Lake.

In the morning, a short transfer takes us to the entrance of the valley. The hike begins at around 2000m altitude. The early part of the day is arid, following an old trail. Picnic en route at a yurt camp. Free time at the yurt camp at 3000m. Dinner and overnight in a yurt.

 

Day 5 / Return to Kochkor.

In the morning, we have time to hike up to the moraine above the camp. Return to the yurt camp for lunch, then descend to the meeting point with the driver. Transfer to a guesthouse for the night.

 

Day 6 / Transfer to Karakol.

Early in the morning, we drive to the town of Karakol. En route, we meet a traditional eagle hunter and explore Skazka Canyon. Picnic on the shores of Lake Issyk Kul. Continue to Karakol with a stop at Jeti-Oguz to admire the red cliffs. Arrival in Karakol, followed by dinner at a restaurant. Overnight in a guesthouse. (240 km)

 

Day 7 / Trekking to Ala Kul Lake.

In the morning, a transfer takes us to the Karakol Valley. The trek begins at 2500m altitude. Picnic at the Sirota Camp (2800m). The climb is steep from the start. By the end of the day, we reach the shores of Ala Kul Lake (3500m). Dinner and overnight in a tent. (5-6 hours of trekking)

 

Day 8 / Trekking to Altyn Arashan Valley.

A long day of trekking awaits. In the morning, we ascend to the Ala Kul Pass at 3800m, enjoying stunning views of peaks over 5000m. Descend to Altyn Arashan Valley. Upon arrival at the camp, relax in the hot springs. Dinner and overnight in a tent at 2600m. (8 hours of trekking)

 

Day 9 / Trekking to Aksu – Transfer to Karakol.

Final day of trekking. We descend to the meeting point with the driver (4 hours). Picnic en route. Visit the hot springs of Ak-Suu before arriving in Karakol. Free time before dinner. Overnight in a guesthouse. End of services.

Notes:

1. Visa and Passport Information

  • Visa-Free Entry: Available for EU, Canada, Japan, Singapore, and other countries (up to 60 days).

  • Passport Validity: Must be valid for at least 6 months from entry.

2. Trekking Gear Recommendations

  • Footwear: Trekking boots with ankle support.

  • Clothing: Moisture-wicking layers, waterproof jacket, warm jacket, gloves, and hat.

  • Essential Items: Sleeping bag and mat (provided), compact backpack (20-30kg), trekking poles (optional).

3. Tour Intensity and Requirements

  • Difficulty: Moderate to challenging routes with steep climbs. Suitable for those in good health.

  • Age Limit: 23 years and older. Please inquire for younger participants.

4. Health and Safety

  • High Altitude: Consult a doctor if sensitive to altitude.

  • Medications: Bring necessary medications. Guides carry a basic first-aid kit.

5. Accommodation and Facilities

  • Accommodation: Stay in yurts or guesthouses with shared facilities. Simple conditions in remote areas.

6. Meals and Dietary Preferences

  • Cuisine: Traditional Kyrgyz dishes (meat, rice, vegetables). Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available.

7. Weather Conditions and Packing Tips

  • Weather: Warm days, cold nights, possible rain. Pack layered clothing, a rain jacket, sunscreen, and a headlamp.

8. Booking and Payment Information

  • Deposit: A €100 deposit confirms your booking. The remaining balance is due upon arrival in Bishkek via bank transfer 1 week before your arrival in Kyrgyzstan (bank fees are not included in the price). Deposits are non-refundable but transferable to future bookings.
  • Cancellation Policy: Deposit is non-refundable but can be applied to future bookings if canceled 7 days in advance.
