KAGAN Winter Yurt Camp is a base for backcountry skiing, ski touring, freeride and splitboarding in the Suusamyr Range. The camp is located at 2,800 m, approximately 200 km from Bishkek on the Bishkek–Osh route.

The surrounding mountains reach up to 3,900 m. Different slopes offer a range of terrain, snow conditions and difficulty levels. Ski areas are accessible directly from the camp, with additional radial vehicle transfers of up to 25 km.

The best time for backcountry skiing in Suusamyr is from January to mid-March.

Winter temperatures in the Suusamyr Valley can be very cold. From January to mid-March, the average temperature at night is around -21°C (−6°F), and during the day around -10°C (14°F). On very cold nights, temperatures can drop below -40°C (−40°F).

We recommend bringing warm, waterproof, and breathable clothing, including several layers of thermal underwear, a warm insulating layer, a waterproof jacket and pants, warm gloves, a hat, sunglasses, and/or ski goggles.

Before the trip, we will provide you with a detailed list of recommended clothing and equipment.

For this tour, we recommend an Intermediate / Advanced skiing level. You should be confident skiing off-piste, be able to control your speed and turns on different types of snow, and have good physical fitness.

Previous experience in ski touring / backcountry skiing is an advantage.

Your insurance must cover freeride skiing and expenses in case of an accident. The minimum coverage is USD 30,000.

Depending on the situation, we can arrange transportation, hospital care, or search and rescue. If needed, we can contact the emergency services.

Yes, but there are only a few helicopters in Kyrgyzstan. It can take time to arrange and can be expensive.

Yes, there is electricity in the evening, so you can charge your phones and cameras. However, we recommend bringing a power bank.

A €300 deposit is required to confirm your booking. The tour is confirmed once we receive the deposit.

 

Yes. You can request a change of dates by contacting KAGAN at least 2 weeks before the tour starts. Date changes are possible depending on availability.

 

No, the deposit is non-refundable if you cancel your booking. KAGAN may offer to move your booking to different dates or to the following year.
